5. Catch Bass by Casting Lures Like Dragonflies Fly?

The Shape of Lure does not have to Resemble a Dragonfly

Fluffy lures in the posted picture may not necessarily look like dragonflies to bass when they are flying in the air. But I continued to cast them, thinking of them as dragonflies. The reason is that they fly over water bodies more often and are spotted by bass more often than other flying creatures.

Dragonflies sometimes fly low enough to reach when a bass jumps. I've actually seen them prey on spawning dragonflies, and I've also seen them chasing dragonflies flying low. From the above, I believe that bass recognizes flying dragonflies as predatory targets.

So why is it not necessary to make the lure resemble the shape of a dragonfly? That's because, as we all know, bass is not only deceived by the shape of lure but also by movement of lure. And this method of fishing tricks bass with lure movement.

The movement of a lure in this case is a change in the trajectory speed of the lure due to thumb braking and rod control, as well as a change in the trajectory of a lure in flying. This can also be called "doing lure action in the air". Until now, lure action in the water and on the surface has been the norm, but I believe that the concept of “lure action in the air” has been added to the mix.

Also, when a lure with such a skirt volume is flying, if thumb braking and slows down, the skirt that has expanded due to air resistance will be squeezed by G-force. If bass can recognizes even this change in the shape of the flying lure, it can be said that it is a new lure action.

I'm a baitcaster at heart.
Therefore, this method assumes the use of a baitcaster. More to the point, I have a strong preference for catching smart bass at close range with a one-handed forehand cast or backhand cast. For example, if I wanted to extend the lure's dwell time at close range more, I could do so by pitching or using a tenkara rod, but I don't do that.

I'm not a tournament angler, so I'm not too concerned about catching fish, and there is no pressure to catch fish. Even if I know that a simple technique is a shortcut, if I am not satisfied with it, I will not do it. I'm not alone in that, am I?
